My Creative Space Tour : Pippa @ Ouch Flower

Pippa’s creative space is not limited to one room, not even her house. It’s her life! She works, lives, breathes, oozes creativity. Lucky me – I got to hang out with her. Here are some of the details I spotted when I was at her place recently.

What a treat it was to spend some time with the amazingly talented Pippa from Ouch Flower. Pippa is prolific with her making. Ouch Flower first came to my attention because of the warm fuzzy memory I attach to macrame anything. It certainly helps that Pippa takes attention grabbing images of her wares that invite a closer look. Two ticks for Pippa. I’ve watched with awe as we’ve seen the Ouch Flower brand and stable grow steadily over the last 12 months or so.

Pippa and I are mainly instagram “mates” and I was nearly beside myself when she started sharing pictures of her ceramic beads in the fairly recent past. Pippa very generously made me a “K” ceramic tile after I drooled all over one of her instagram pics. Although it was plain she was no beginner ceramicist I had no idea of the depth and breadth of her experience in this medium. It was lovely to share some of her history during my visit.

While I was at Pippa’s she was busily working on a wall tile. The piece was at the “hard leather” stage and Pippa was carefully carving marvelous patterns into the clay tile. I was more than a little chuffed with myself when I correctly identified one of the carving implements as a dental tool. One tick for me.

Pippa and I exchanged stories of our printer fathers and our philosophies on making magic too. I’ll simplify this by saying … share blend, merge, collaborate & make it happen.

I enjoyed learning more about Pippa’s process. Any new challenges are begun with a sunflower … I REALLY liked that.

Now I invite you to spot the sunflowers at Pippa’s place…some obvious and some not so.

    I adore this series.
    And Pippa, wow!
    What an inspiration.
My only problem with being her online pal is how much I want to touch everything she makes. The shiney, the tassely, the wooly… one dimention is not enough.
