My Creative Space Tour : Shannon @ Aunty Cookie

Shannon is Aunty Cookie
. She’s been floating around online since forever, delivering her delightfully candid posts. She shares a bit about making stuff, parenting and general observations on life. Shannon is smart and funny. She has a wicked sense of humour and a sharp tongue. Honestly, there is nothing I don’t love about Shaz. She loves herself a bit of text and black/red/grey which makes her a winner in my books. I am very lucky to count her as a friend.

Shannon and her partner recently renovated their house and this meant that Shannon moved out of the little office space adjoining the kitchen and into her rather luxurious creative space at the front of the house. It was lovely to spend some time with Shaz in the new space and poke around a space that is truly her own.

While I was there Shannon was working on a custom drawing. Shaz always appears very casual about everything she does but actually everything is very well considered and thought out. I loved being there to watch her make a start. The etsy conversation was printed out so that Shannon didn’t miss any of the details. Once the ink (the same bottle she’s been using since Uni) was poured Shannon began. Her strokes were confidently applied…no second guessing here.

As I snooped around the new space I saw lots of things I expected to see (including the decorations I’ve made her over the years) and a few things that I found delightfully surprising. For example I didn’t expect the archive boxes to be so beautifully kept, nor did I know that Shaz was a fan of Cindy Sherman. These little details connected me further to a kindred spirit … lovely

Shaz is ace, “Check out her shizz”.

Lurve the Shaz. Scrolling through my seven year old said of the last photo, “Who’s that?” was very happy to tell her, “That’s Shannon. She did the picture on our kitchen bench and the one on our wall and the one we gave to Nanny for Christmas and some of the fabric in Leo’s quilt …” etc etc! So yeah, I guess I kinda like her stuff ;)
