iPad Mini: I’ve heard the new iPad Mini being touted as ‘Mum’s Most Wanted Christmas Gift’, but truth be told, the Mini will be released in March 2013 (just in time for my birthday!) with a more realistic price-point of $369.   Apple have also announced the Fourth Generation iPad will hit stores in November and that other new products (like a lighter MacBook Pro and a new desktop, too.) Pussy Riot: Two members of the feminist punk band Pussy Riot have been sent to remote Russian prison camps, after their sentences were upheld by Russian courts.  The prisons were once Stalin-era labour camps. Activist Lev Ponomaryov told Moscow Echo: ”Evidently the women have been sent to distant colonies so it’s harder for the Pussy Riot members to contact relatives and lawyers, and also it’s harder for the public to check on their fate.”   More here.

Noses: Wow. Scientists have found that if you’ve got a big nose and you’re a man, you are more likely to have a one night stand.  No way? Apparently a study of   700 20-somethings carried out by the universities of Durham, St Andrews and Aberdeen (where volunteers had to rate the level of promiscuity from photos of a group of surveyed men)  lead to 70 per cent of people correctly picking the one-night-standers. They were the ones with the larger schnozzes.  The researchers believe volunteers picked up subtle signals of putting-it-about. Larger noses may be linked to high testosterone, indicating virility and a liability to seek short-term sexual gratification.  More here.
