Interest Rates : People with mortgages are crossing their fingers, toes and possibly their eyes in the hope that the banks will pass on yesterday’s interest rate cut quick smart.  The Reserve Bank dropped interest rates by 50 base points, which is about $80 a month on a $250K mortgage, IF the banks pass the full discount on.  $80 is a good start, but not quite a nice dinner out, is it?  We vote for another cut tout de suite.  Read on at news.com.au

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week : Opened on Monday with a ‘POP’, lead by cool kids on the block, Romance Was Born (see our guerilla coverage here).  Whilst RWB was definitely a highlight, Camilla and Zimmermann were even-Stevens for escapist, gorgeous va-va-voom. Amazing clothes, glamour, hi-jinksy drama and cheeky glitz are just what we need in these sensible, frugal times, don’t you think.  I think art and fashion are a perfect antidote to austerity. Ben Pobjie : Ben (whose name is quite hard to say, I think)  writes about depression over here.  Whilst some illnesses (those with aggressive cells, or shape shifting abilities or peculiar DNA quirks) are more openly talked about, depression still brings a lump to the throat and a bit of  foot-to-foot shiftiness for many.  Ben wonders why and writes about how hard he finds it to talk about his own depression without self-judgement.  This is a really important discussion to have. My guess is that lots of people find it hard to talk about. Better if we all muck in and work through this togeths, I reckon.  More here.
