Puberty Blues: I’m a bit excited about the John Edwards version of ‘Puberty Blues’ due to begin screening on Network Ten on August 15th (that’s a Wednesday, FYI!) He of telly superfaves Love My Way, Tangle, The Secret Life of Us and Offspring is sure to weave some magic (I hope!) through the Gabrielle Carey/Kathy Lette favourite.  I can not wait to see. Puberty Blues 2012 is co-directed by Emma Freeman who has worked on all our favourite TV shows and has also directed clips for French band Coco Rosie.  She’s ace.  Here’s a sneak peek at a scene for Puberty Blues being shot in Sydney…

Madonna: Jeepers. At every turn something stupid. Mme ‘Boobs-Out’ Madonna has been slammed for using fake guns in her weekend show in Scotland, with many saying that in light of the Aurora events she should have been more sensitive.  Madonna’s spokespeople say : ”Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art”. Hm. Seems like yet another stunt designed to get us talking (like this!)  But is any publicity really good publicity? Kids & Books: Is this news to you? It’s not news to me either.  A new study has confirmed that children who are read to from an early age are likely to perform better in tests such as the NAPLAN. The Australian Institute of Family studies has concluded that kid who are surrounded by books, have regular library visits and are read to lots around the ages of four and five have better literacy skills then those who don’t. So read to the little people in your life! (I bet you are already doing that, right?!)  More here.
