Tuesday: Newsy Snacks For Busy People
Alan Jones: Mr Jones has really made a mess of things and is now facing a swift backlash via sponsors, in response to his statement that the PMs father John Gillard ‘died of shame’. Coles, Mercedes-Benz, Freedom Furniture, Dilmah Tea, ING Direct, Challenger financial services and the Australian International Motor Show yesterday cancelled advertising on Jones’ top rating 2GB breakfast show. The online petition set up to encourage advertisers to pull out now has over 70 000 signatures, too. Read the updated story here.
The Meagher Case: Yesterday, Tom Meagher, husband of Jill walked along Sydney Road in Brunswick, mirroring the last steps Jill was known to take. He later visited the local Baptist church to view the tributes mourners had left in Jill’s memory. A private service will be held for Jill later this week in Melbourne, with another to be held in her hometown of Drogheda in Ireland this Friday. Via his Facebook page, Tom said ”Thank you, Melbourne, for the march on Sydney Rd… Jill’s family and friends are truly touched.” Read on here.
Gangnam Style: Psy’s Gangnam Style video looks set to become the world’s most watched clip, toting up 339 million views on YouTube to date. Gangnam Style has hit number one on the Aria charts too, proving that we are still totally up for a novelty tune and raising come-back hopes for the likes of Plastic Bertrand, Rolf Harris and Aqua. OMG. Read on here, with horsey hands, if you please.
