Tuesday: Newsy Snacks For Busy People

Facebook: Wow.  Facebook enabled cameras are coming to a venue near you, apparently, and they’ll have inbuilt facial recognition software allowing them to check you in and out with ease.  Jeepers.  The incentive is that Facebook users will be offered ‘deals’ at the places they are checked in and out of (hence the name FaceDeals.)  Ugh. I think this is really taking things way too far.  I’m guessing it’s opt-in, but I’m also guessing that Facebook may track us regardless (and perhaps just not publish our activity publicly?) Qantas: I missed this story, a couple of days ago, but I thought you’d be interested in it, so here it is.  Qantas flight delayed after passengers go bananas about pajamas.  Like, really.  Two passengers delayed an LA to Melbourne flight because they were miffed that there were no size XL pajamas available on the flight. What?  That’s insane. Actually, it gets worse.  They wanted the FIRST CLASS XL pajamas.  They were not interested in the Business Class PJs they were offered by staff.  Nope.  They wanted the fancy Peter Morrissey ones.  When they were unavailable, the plane was delayed 30 minutes so that the Pajama Bananas peeps could disembark (yep, they decided NOT to fly at all!) and claim their luggage. OMG.  I totally get that their tickets may have been uber-pricey, but really, do you buy the uber-pricey tickets JUST BECAUSE of the PJs?! OMG. Are pajamas a deal-breaker?! (Edit : I stand corrected ; they were offered the MORRISSEY ones : which are a business class perk : but they wanted the Akira Isogawa ones: which are the FIRST class perk! My mistake!)

Mobile Cinema: This is ace, via Good.  Filmmaker Jarreth Merz made a critically acclaimed film about the 2008 Presidential election in Ghana.  The film was an official selection for Sundance 2011, and Jarreth now wants to take it  on the road via a mobile cinema truck and show Africans what he documented.  Cool idea, Sir!   The thing is, he needs help.  Your help.
