The Third Space: The First Space is what you are doing now.  The Second Space is what you plan to do next. And The Third Space is the bit in between.  Dr Adam Fraser thinks that it’s what you do in The Third Space that contributes most to happiness, and that the way you use the transition time between your to-dos is key. Dr Fraser suggests using this in between Third Space time like this:

1.    Reflect: Use this stage to reflect on what just happened, ask yourself what went well, what you could do better and what took away from it

2.    Rest: Use this stage to calm your mind and recompose so you don’t move onto the next task with racing thoughts. Depending on time, take a few deep breaths, do a crossword puzzle on the bus on the way home from work, or go for a quick walk around the block.

3.    Reset: Align your mindset with what is about to happen. Ask yourself what your intention is. Do you want to enjoy time with your family? Do you need to focus on a budget?

A study he carried out at Deakin University revealed that people who follow these steps are MUCH happier and cope with life’s challenges more easily. Read more here.

Tom Cruise: Mr Cruise has filed a $50 million law suit against Life and Style Magazine, because they published a story stating he abandoned his daughter Suri.   Tom’s lawyer Bert Fields says Cruise doesn’t like to file lawsuits but that the assertion that the actor has abandoned his daughter is a “vicious lie.”  Read on here.  Fair enough, I think.

Scary Stuff: A cinema in Nottingham has made a grave error, showing an excited group waiting to see Madagascar 3 the film Paranormal Activity 4, instead.  In a dreadful mixup, a group of small children watched the opening minutes of the scary film, where a corpse hurtles towards the camera.  Needless to say, parents grabbed their children and ran from the cinema, with many children being terribly upset by the footage.  A cinema spokesman said: ”We take matters such as this very seriously and are currently working with technicians to ensure this does not happen again,” the spokesperson said.  Worst nightmare!
