Australian Universities: Melbourne University has jumped up 9 places in worldwide ranking of tertiary institution performance, coming in at number 28 overall. Last year we had 7 universities in the top 200, and THIS year we have eight: the University of Melbourne (28), ANU (37), University of Sydney (62), University of Queensland (65), University of NSW (85), Monash University (99), University of Adelaide (176), and the University of Western Australian (190). Same-Sex Marriage: Federal Opposition spokesman on families, Kevin Andrews warns that legalising same-sex marriage could lead to the acceptance of group marriage. In his book Maybe ‘I do’: Modern marriage and the pursuit of happiness he says ”Once the state can no longer insist that marriage involves a commitment to a member of the opposite sex, there is no ground (other than superstition) for insisting that marriage be limited to one person rather than several.” Jeepers. Nicole Kidman: Speaking of marriage, Nicole Kidman has spoken about her marriage to Tom Cruise, saying they had a great marriage for many years, but that she suffered from depression after they split. In an interview for Who Magazine, Kidman also spoke about how happy she is with Keith Urban and how much they like and respect each other. Cute. More here.
