Kobe Bryant: Well. These photos show US basketball superstar Kobe Bryant hanging out with some Australians at the Olympic velodrome. Of course the conclusion drawn from these shots is that he’s keen on Steph Rice. I think it’s understandable if he IS, but maybe they are just buddies?

Wilcannia: The only supermarket in the remote town of Wilcannia has closed suddenly while being investigated by Fair Trading (for price gouging) leaving residents two hours from the nearest fresh food outlet.  Prices at the supermarket were so high that investigators were called in, and now the outlet is closed altogether.  Many residents don’t have the means or capacity to travel 2 hours to Broken Hill to buy supplies, don’t know if the supermarket will reopen and are apparently running out of food. How ridiculous.  Read on here.

Anna Piaggi: Fabulous Italian fashion editor, Anna Piaggi has died at her home in Milan.  Eccentric, stylish and muse to many including the loco Karl Lagerfeld, she was 81.  Read on at The New York Times.

    And, gah! People are stupid – Fair Trading could have done things a bit differently in Wilcannia given it’s the only store available to the residents! maybe helped them out a bit or give some warning or something. Jeez!
