Pets: Mobile phones are good for more than keeping you company while you wait for your dinner companion. The Queensland RSPCA’s automated messaging service deploys details of lost pets as soon as they receive them, sending an alert to around 2000 mobiles and landlines so that animal lovers can be on the lookout for missing pooches and the like. SUCH a great idea. One woman says she was reunited with her pet, thanks to this service, within an hour of reporting him lost. Aw. More here.
Banksy: Street art’s statesman, Banksy has apparently created two new pieces to mark the upcoming London Olympics. It is not clear where these pieces are, but if you are in London and you can’t afford/get tickets to The Olympics this could be a good alternative? Find the Olympic Banksys? The Workplace: A recent study has found that Australia still has a huge problem with what’s referred to as ‘low level sexism’, with most workplaces lacking the strategy to deal with offensive behaviours like sexist jokes and sexual slang. The Melbourne School of Business study suggest that organisations should target low-level sexism by implementing a “no just joking” policy. Sexism, sexual harassment and gender stereotyping were found to be key issues for women in male dominated workplaces, and impacted on women’s health, job security and professional performance.
