Parenting: A new report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics has found that women want to work less hours so they can spend more time with their kids, while men want more time off so that they can socialise. Really? Ugh. Find out more here. I know a LOT of men who are eager to spend any spare moments they have with their children, but perhaps the ‘majority’ of fellas have not caught up yet. I think it’s only  a matter of time, as shared parenting becomes the norm and the importance of fathers is even FURTHER championed.

Big Brother: The newest incarnation of the Australian Big Brother starts tonight. In a survey of JustB’s Facebook page fans, 2 out of 3 people would rather eat steel wool than watch.  OMG.  Still. I will be watching. I am a sucker for that stuff, and one of my favourite Australian media personalities, Chrissie Swan got her big break on BB, so for that I am eternally grateful and loyal to the show.  More (mostly an interview with Sonia Kruger, actually!) here.

Beastie Boys: If you know me, you’ll know that I love the Beastie Boys. I named my blog, shop and cat after one of them, even. I was totally stoked to read this piece about the late Beastie, Adam Yauch, who specified in his will that no Beastie Boys song could be used in any ad or jingle, no matter what. Yay.  Not everyone’s for sale. How rad!

I love that article about the misused words. I even learnt something – but will I remember it! I always avoid “literally” – it confuses me! People use it way too often!

Oh & I forgot to add, Yay about Chrissie Swan. The one thing I really remember about her from BB is when she said she wanted something to do & really wanted to do some cross-stitch. The guy she was with said “you really must be bored”! lol

don’t know yet about watching BB but will probably get drawn in despite my best shot at avoiding it!

I am one of those mums who want to work less to be with their kids but I also have a hubby who would love more time with our fam too….did they ask ” men” or ” dads” that question?

I’m with you on the BB front. I’ll watch it because my boys want to watch it. One is too young to even remember the original!! I’m not expecting much from it but I’ll watch because Isaac is ADDICTED to reality tv & likes to have someone to talk to about it all.
    Happy Monday Pip! xx
