Wedding Rings: I totally love these stories. This one does not even involve the amazing powers of the internet! A kayaker has found a diamond wedding ring washed up on the shore, the very same ring that was lost by Necia Rasmussen four years earlier. OMG.  Necia was putting sunscreen on her kidlets when the ring disappeared, just slipped off one would presume.  Luckily, the fella that found it four years on was super honest, and Necia and her ring are now reunited. SO nice that it was handed in, no?!  More here.

Perk It Forward: One day, a lady ordered a coffee at a South Carolina coffee shop. Not so remarkable, right? Well, she paid for her coffee and left an extra $100, requesting it be used to pay for the coffees of the customers that came in after she left, until the money ran out. How great.  Word got out and other people started leaving extra cash to pay for strangers coffees.  The same lady returned and left more money. Some people who didn’t even want coffee donated money to ‘perk it forward’.  A movement was made. Wow. How great is that? Read the full story at Good.

The Royal Wedding: Yesterday marked the anniversary of Charles and Diana’s 1981 wedding (July 29th.)  How super sad that we lost Diana.  And I think it’s great that Charles and Camilla were out and about at The Olympics yesterday, happy and keeping busy.

Olympics Opening Ceremony: NPR has a rundown of the Opening Ceremony detailing some of the things that happened, the bit that NBC decided not to screen and other gaffes in the US coverage.  I really enjoyed the Danny Boyle production. I loved so many things about it. I think it was the best Opening Ceremony ever! Here’s how NPR saw it.

I know I shouldn’t care about it but I’m really sad about the whole Rob & Kristen break up. I feel bad for them both that the whole world knows what is happening to them & I’m sad that it seems they are breaking up- I love those two together!!! I’m so tragic…..
Thanks for the vegetarian cookbooks too. I’m trying to eat a lot less meat but it is hard to convince the hard core meat eaters in my home to join me…
    Gingerdead Men = AWESOME!!!

Blech, sorry Pip, I didn’t like the opening ceremony at all. I loved seeing the athletes enter, with their beaming faces, but not much else. I thought it was disjointed and silly.
I still think the best one was ours, Sydney 2000! I watched some highlights and all the feelings of pride and delight and amazement came back to me.
