The Voice
: One in ten Australians are watching The Voice with 2.5 million of us tuning into the show on Monday night. Did you watch? I really loved the girl that sang Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights.  Although she seems to have been overshadowed by the lovely  Rachael Leahcar, I still think that Laura Bunting was my favourite of the night. I’m quite controversial like that.  You can see Laura’s pre-The Voice work here!  I kind of want to MAKE her some bunting to celebrate her being so great.

Matilda : Were you a fan of Matilda, the movie adaptation of Roald Dahl’s tale of the library loving lass?  I was/am. The Daily Mail reports on the brand new musical version of Matilda here.  They also dug about and found the original Matilda, Mara Wilson (who has a blog here!)  Now I want pancakes!

Ben Cousins : In the continuing and very sad saga of fallen footballer Ben Cousins, he was charged yesterday after police allegedly found cannabis in his car. I can’t imagine how it feels to be Ben Cousins, but it’s obviously pretty crap and I hope he can find a way through his serious addiction and edge a bit closer to recovery.  Read more at The Australian.

Phoebe Cates : I am not sure why the internet is going all crazy retro on me, but you need to look at Drop Dead Fred star Phoebe Cates’ food diary! (Via Heidi Swanson)

Everybody needs a little Tenderness, GG! xx

Yes, Pip – Laura was so excellent, such a talented lady. I love Kate Bush. Such a complex song. I reckon her performance has been the best so far. As for the show as a whole, I’m not sure how I feel.

I really feel for Ben Cousin’s family and friends and the man himself. Addiction really is terrible for everyone concerned. In that situation, I guess, it’s got the added bonus of being a public spectacle. I hope it works out for them. I hope he has or can get the right support.

Matilda was my very fave book as a kid, The Witches, too (that’s what it was called, right??).

Yep! It was called The Witches! The film was Angelica Huston was scary great, wasn’t it?! x

Omg, yesss! The film – I forgot about it! Angelica is seriously great in everything.

Phoebe Cates! I loved her in my teens. She was a good alternative to sappy Molly. x

I am hooked on The Voice which is weird because normally I can’t stand these types of shows but this just seems to be different..I think it’s the whole blind judging thing but I like the judges too, doesn’t seem to be any nastiness which I like a lot!!!

Phoebe Cates…I loved her back in the day. Drop Dead Fred is one if my all time favourite movies- I even got my boys into it.

Living here in Perth where most of us are footy mental the Ben Cousins story is always huge. It’s so sad to see someone who had so much talent struggle so hard. Tim & I wre talking about it last night & Tim said he hopes Ben finds someone who sparks something in him that will pull him out of the deep hole he seems to keep falling into. I think differently. I’ve watched lots of people fight addiction & one thing I’ve learnt is the person needs to want to get clean for themself first. Ben clearly isn’t there yet & it’s sad to watch it all play out in the media.

I really love all the links you put in Pip, it’s like a little treasure trove of great stuff!
