Logies : I’m really not a HUGE awards show fan, but I am a sucker for the likes of Adam Hills, Chrissie Swan, Hamish Blake, Asher Keddie and Shaynna Blaze, all of whom featured in last night’s glittery-ish tribute to the Australian TV Industry.  I think it’s really hard to do an awards show well, and last night did not make me want to poke my own eyes out, so that was a HUGE win, for me at the very least.

I thought that for many of the ladies the theme was Wedding or Funeral in terms of colour choice, but that is probably our own fault because we are always watching and at the ready if someone steps out of line and does something crazy/interesting/unique.  I am hoping that someone will wear a swan dress next year, or at the very least display a bit more of the awesomeness that was Denise Scott and her spangly blue rad or the saucy Denise Drysdale.  Both set a VERY good example I thought.  Click over to News for the full story.  Or click over to Pottymouthmama for a girl on the street fashion low-down.  (Not in a street walker way, though..)  Also, it’s so freaking great that Go Back Where You Came From won a Logie! And Hamish got the gold!

The Stolen Babies of Spain : It’s been revealed that in Spain, an estimated 1500 babies who were thought to have died at birth were actually whisked away and sold to new adoptive parents (between the mid 50s and the mid 80s,) DNA testing has reunited  six mothers with children they thought were dead and dozens of exhumed coffins have been discovered to be empty, despite parents being told their babies had died. Adoptive parents were apparently unaware that the babies they were welcoming into their homes had been removed under tragic circumstances from their birth parents.  Read more at TIME.

Saroo Brierley and Google Earth : Saroo Brierley was lost on the streets of Calucutta as a five year old child.  Separated from his family, he lived by his wits as a beggar for a year before being adopted by an Australian family and resettling in Tasmania.  In an amazing turn of events, Saroo (now 31) managed to retrace his childhood steps and locate his birth family via Google Earth.  He then travelled back to India to reunite with his mother.  So great.  More at the BBC.

Glee and Gotye (and Kimbra) : Did you see this? I did.  Glee did Somebody That I Used to Know. It was cheesily great. I hope that Gotye gets to buy himself something nice with the proceeds of this. Maybe a nice pair of oxfords or a teapot or some bath bombs?

The fashion was very *BLURGH* at the Logies. Tres predictable.
For, me the one shining light was the lovely Sophie Lowe who played Connie in “The Slap”. She had on a fabulous pant suit, dark background, floral pattern, wide legs and shortish jacket. It was very 70′s. But because it was different, unusual and non-conformist, I am having great difficulty finding a single image to share with you!
