Julia vs Obama?: Despite President Obama coming out (so to speak) yesterday in support of gay marriage, our own leader, Julia Gillard, remains stubbornly unswayed when it comes to her own position on this important issue.  Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young says ”The majority of Australians support marriage equality, yet our Prime Minister doesn’t.”  But our Prime Minister says “My view’s not changing… It reinforces this is a matter that people form their own views on, [a] deeply personal question, people will work their way through it.”  What do YOU say? Sydney Writer’s Centre Best Australian Blogger Awards: The winners of the SWC’s nationwide blogging competition were announced yesterday. You can view them all here, but I am totally stoked to read that Eden Riley took the top gong. Deservedly so. Do you have a blog, too?

Rihanna : Rihanna has tweeted a picture of (apparently) her arm (presumably attached to the rest of her) in a hospital bed,  hooked up to an IV.  Her reps say she’s being treated for exhaustion and dehydration, as rumours swirl about what may or may not have happened after she attended the Met Ball.  I hope she’s okay. I hope she’s not another casualty of the ugly double-edged sword that is fame. I hope we stop speedily elevating young people into stardom like this some day soon.  I hope we stop manipulating them and dealing more pressure than anyone deserves on to fledgling adults. But I’m just a bit of a sook about those things. Read on here.

    I think Rihana is a train wreck waiting to happen. I personally don’t like her music & the persona she puts out to the public but I don’t wish her harm. I wish someone who loves her would take her aside & say ” Hey! Maybe its time to slow down, take a step back.” but unfortunatly those closet to her are also profiting from her fame. Its not nice…..
    Tim & I were only talking this morning about how America seems to push its young stars into an adult life so quickly. It’s sad & unnecessary.

    If someone’s against gay marriage that’s totes okay with me. I don’t agree, but I respect it. And it’s
    completely within your rights to be against that. So… don’t
    marry a gay person. But don’t tell other people what they can or can’t do with their hearts. Eugh. I hate that we’re still talking about this.
