Friday: Newsy Snacks For Busy People

JJJ: Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale is embroiled in a social media stouch with ABC Radio’s JJJ, trading insults with radio host Tom Ballard and others, and posting a rant on a Facebook post about the Js The Doctor which attracted over 10 000 likes. Stockdale maintains that JJJ stopped supporting Wolfmother releases after their first album.  You can read the full story here, including the other Stockdale rant at a recent Smashing Pumpkins gig.

Vertigo: More than 900 critics from 70 countries have been polled with the result that the Hitchcock great Vertigo is officially the best film ever made.  Vertigo has knocked Citizen Kane from the top spot for the first time in 50 years.  Applause! You can read more at the ABC.

Spoilers: Social media is coming to terms with how to manage spoilers, especially in light of delayed Olympics coverage. This piece points out that you can make the decision to avoid certain sites and home pages so that you don’t accidentally see the outcome of events or shows, but on services like Twitter and Facebook you’re not sure what may pop up.  News services are (or VERY obviously are NOT!) working out ways to handle this, but I guess it’s probably easier to avoid social media if you are spoiler phobic?  It’s an interesting issue, I think.  More here.
