What was in your teenage diary?

If you’re in Sydney, get your all-grown-up self to Surry Hills Library tonight for Teen Diaries II – This Time It’s Personal.
It’s a hugely successful event where people revisit their cowed, angsty teenaged selves via readings from their high school diaries.
Nadine Von Cohen, who almost certainly does other stuff but is known to many as an extraordinarily amusing tweeter (follow her here) is one of the performers. A short excerpt:
20.12. 97: “I’ve been going out with Jack for about 1 week. All i can say is…He rules the world.”
11.11.96: “Well, the unthinkable has happened. I’m no longer friends with Rebecca. Why? F*$ked if I know! If this was her diary maybe she could tell you.
Some time in 1996: “I’m gonna write everything that comes into my head and not feel dumb when i read it later because my feelings are not pathetic and stupid and they deserve some respect.”
I know I’ve got some old diaries around somewhere but I’m not sure I could ever bring myself to revisit them. The agony of childhood awkwardness never really leaves any of us and I don’t know if it’s a place I particularly enjoy going. I do however remember going away on holiday with a friend’s family once, and writing something like “Had to hide my Babysitters’ Club books at the beach from cute boys. Embaaaaaaaarrassing!” followed by “I’m too fat, tomorrow I will only eat tomatoes.”
Got any old diaries lying around? Care to share?
