Who Leaked the Tape? An Ode

It’s Monday. Let’s get this party started!

I have a message to Australia’s politicians. GROW UP. You all act like children. Even saying that I feel is too good for you, because children are lovely and funny and sweet. That, you are not.

Take the latest video leak of Kevin Rudd swearing. Are you serious? We are all adults, supposedly, most of us swear. Who cares? The energy spent discussing the contents of this viral video and trying to work out who leaked it, is a waste of time.

Imagine how many people’s lives could have been made a little easier if the attention was instead spent on campiagning for charity or cleaning a waterway or helping someone to read or passing laws to allow same-sex couples to get married. Instead, the media and politicians have spent vast amounts of time discussing a stupid tape with a grown man saying the F-bomb.

I think laws should be passed that only allow people who have some life experience outside of the political system to run for parliament. I think they should offer more money to attract a better calibre of politician and I think it’s time politicians have perfromance targets set in place by us, the voters, and each time they break a promise or waste time stabbing each other in the back, they have to be penalised in some way.

Unfortunately, seeing the level of childish behaviour being displayed at present, that might mean putting them in time out. Or making them sit in the naughty corner. Or taking away their phones for the day.

I am disgusted that they spend so much time jostling for votes and ego boosts and not enough time actually working.

So, in light of the fact all politicians act like kids, I have written on ode to them and the tape leaking debacle, in the form of a story book (so they understand it). Apologies to Pamela Allen, who wrote the original Who Sank the Boat? Here’s my abridged version.

Who Leaked the Tape?

In Canberra, in Parliament House, there sat a redhead, a Rudd, an advisor, an Abbott and a journo.

They were not good friends and one day, for very obvious reasons, they decided to engage in debate.

Do you know who leaked the tape?

Was it the redhead, who wouldn’t give in, who leaked the tape to try and win?

Was it the Rudd, who wanted revenge, who yelled: ” I’ll show you (insert F-bomb) up before it’s too late”?

Was it an advisor, as slipperly as butter, who thought it’d be good to cause a great flutter?

Was it an Abbott who knew about it, and leaked the tape, so his opponenets both took a big hit?

Or was it the journo, eager for ratings, who encouraged the leak for some mischievous fun?

Do you know who leaked the tape?

No, and I do not care. Get on with the job of running the country.

Time to sort it out. Photo: news.com.au

What do you think about the behaviour of Australia’s politicians? Are they wasting our taxes politicking? Do you think we need to raise their wages so as to attract are more well-rounded calibre of person?

Do you think politicians should spend some time out of the political arena so they learn how to behave in the real world? Do you think they should stop acting like children, sort it out, and grow up?

Have a fab day,

Bianca xx

They’re ridiculous! I’m beginning the think the whole idea of democracy and elections is BAD, because this is the result: grubbing for votes and publicity, instead of just trying to run the country as effectively as possible. I’m in favour of a benevolent dictator: somebody who wants the best for as many people as possible, and works hard to do it, and who’s rule will last long enough to actually achieve long-term goals. So there. :P

Long-term goals – wow that’s an idea I haven’t heard in awhile?! Your comment made me smile ; )

    Great article. And totally agree.

When I read in the paper today that they are making changes to the way my child’s disability is being classified and in all likelihood she will loose access to even more precious funding – I have absolutely no time for this kind of crap.

Stand up and do something worthwhile. Please.

Exactly! Sad to hear about the funding cuts x

Brilliant Ode, very well said.  Yes I agree get some life experience so you can relate to people and real situations.

    Ode to Kevin Rudd

you do not love your country
you do not love your party
    you only love yourself

remaining in your seat has proved this
you have robbed us of the joy of having
for the very first time -feminine governance

please go flee , change your career from active politicing
this is your last chance to do the decent thing
    to become a good guy
    by stopping the horrible damage
    your continued presence spells
    and prove you aren’t
    the bad guy
    or a closet conservative
    working secretly for tonyrabbit
