SAD news today, as we learn Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.
Publicist Kristen Foster has confirmed the singer has died, but the cause and location of her death are still unclear.
The former queen of pop and multiple Grammy winner was one of the world’s best selling artists during the 1980s and 1990s, with mega hits “I Will Always Love You”, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “Saving All My Love For You”.
Her success carried over from the studio to the big screen in 1992 movie The Bodyguard, in which she starred opposite Kevin Costner. Houston’s soundtrack for the movie went on to become the biggest selling movie soundtrack of all time.
By the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became raspy and hoarse.
Houston’s last Australian tour in 2010 was not well received by fans, with many describing the singer as “croaky” and “disoriented” during her performances.
