Vanessa Robinson: Pride of Australia Medal finalist Vanessa is the face of an important campaign to raise awareness about carbon monoxide poisoning, and the detector device which can prevent leaking appliances from taking lives.  Vanessa lost her two gorgeous boys in an accident at their home two years ago, and she’s taking steps to ensure this never happens to anyone else.  More info about this SUPER important issue here.

Steve Jobs: Remember how I told you about Steve Jobs home getting burgled last week? Well, it turns out that the fella who robbed the late Apple CEO’s home gave an iPad he nicked to a mate, who promptly downloaded ‘The Pink Panther’ theme song from iTunes, thus making the device instantly trackable.  The police showed up at his home and took the Jobs iPad away.  Kinda funny… kinda weird.  More here.

Colin Friels: Actor Colin Friels has collapsed during a performance of Death of a Salesman in Sydney.  He was taken to St Vincent’s hospital for tests after collapsing during the play’s second act.  He’s apparently resting at home now.  More here.

Howzat: Did you watch? Did you see Rhonda? Did you see many moustaches?! Did you see slacks? What did you think?!

I avoid channel 9 because of its very old-school, traditional men and women, roles kinda vibe. I think Kerry Packer was a disgraceful thug, bully and misogynist. I have no interest in a show about how he turned the cricket world on it’s bloked-up, silly, boys-clubby head.
I am very sad to see so MUCH television dragging us back to the stereotypical 1950′s of blokey, silly duffer, useless-around-anything-other-than-sport-and-barbecues, men-folk and she-who-must-be-obeyed, housewifey, dream-wedding obsessed women programming.
When I clicked on one of the links, I came across a great little photostory on Tori Spelling, very pregnant with her 4th baby, looking glowing without a skeric of makeup, getting about on a chair scooter thingy, and I thought “how brilliant and non Hollywood is that?!”
