Life: The Best Smartphone Apps For Your Road Trip
I’ve been taking lots of little trips around my state over the last few weeks, getting out and about and away from my computer. That doesn’t mean I’m technology free, of course. I love all the stuff I can do on my iPhone, and it’s proving to be a handy helper when we are on the road. Perhaps you have an iPhone too? Or maybe you have an Android phone? If you do have a smartphone you are totally in luck, because there are a heap of great apps which can act as your Road Trip or Day Trip concierge. Win!
Today, I thought I’d click you through some of the apps that I find useful when I am travelling. They only take a minute to download, and they’ll co-pilot your experience nicely when you are on the road. Perhaps you would not normally think of using some of these apps because they seem a bit touristy? Well, you don’t have to be a ‘tourist’ to reap the rewards of these gems. AND I think we’re ALL tourists in this life! So let’s tour!
Queensland: your guide to where to go and what to do!
DIY Tourguide: a GPS self-guided tour of outback Australia
South Australian Wine Ambassador: a guide to wineries and food (But please don’t drink and drive! Buy wine to take home, instead!)
Connect Barossa: this is one of a stable of apps which explore South Australian food and wine. Click through to see the others.
Experience WA: thousands of attractions and destinations are at your fingertips with this great app
Everytrail: this site has tons of guides to areas of WA and beyond. You can download individual area guides to your phone.
Winery Explorer: your guide to WA’s wine regions, what to eat, where to picnic, that kind of stuff!

Tasmania Travel Guide: find your way and enhance your trip with this great app.
Tasmanian Travel Companion: a tour guide in your pocket.
