What kind of bag (purse?!) do you have? I must admit that I am a total satchel fan. How about you?

I bought a vintage leather satchel a couple of years ago at a  little shop on Gertrude Street in Fitzroy and I have used it ever since.  It’s big enough to hold my MacBook Air (it’s a little 11″ one). And it’s got outside pockets for my phone and keys. Inside is a big cavern and I’ve got all kinds of little zip purses in there with everything filed fairly neatly: make up, business cards, emergency chargers, condiments (true!) Rustling around the bottom of the cavern are the things I forgot to file: sugar packets, the odd lipstick, loose change and about 34 fine liner pens.  Obviously I don’t file everything… But I aspire to.

There are lots of reasons to love a satchel, but mine include: feeling like I am in Grade 2 when I sling it over my shoulder, not feeling too precious- because a  satchel is a practical kind of bag, the shape is perfect for keeping a laptop safe and sound- and protected AND it’s a really great, enduring trans-seasonal piece.

I”ve done the leg work for you, in case you are looking to get a bit satchelly at your place.  Have a click-through and see which is your kinda thing.  Please note that I have dropped in one ‘Dream Satchel That No One Can Afford’ for inspirational purposes. We can just print that one out and stick in on the fridge (in case someone else wants to buy it for us!)

What kind of bag do you have? What’s IN your bag? Do tell!!

Oh I love that one too! There are lots of other colours to choose from at Lliberty! Gasp! x

Love love them. I can’t go past the red one but the liberty print and the black and cream are a definite tie for second.

The red one is lovely, isn’t it?! And not too pricey! x

I have loved satchels for as long as I can remember, I wanted one to use as a school bag, but there was never one around for purchase.

It seems they are MUCH easier to find now, and in every colour of the rainbow! x

Might be time for a new one.

Gosh Pip, you always find the coolest of things! I have a beautiful red handbag that I am using constantly now. It used to just be for special occasions, but then my black one (which I’d had for about 10 years) broke, so now it is my everyday bag.

I have everything in my bag, mostly cause I travel on public transport, so I don’t have the option of leaving anything in my car.

I have a brolly, a book, hand lotion, diary (A5 size), poster from The Astor, work ID, black leather gloves, purse, iPod, glasses case, tissues in a special red holder, coin purse, compact mirror, band aids, hair tie, bobby pins, bandaids and a map of the CBD with tram routes on it. I used to carry water too, but now I try not to. It just felt like it was the only thing I could leave out!
