Style: Eleven Skirts To Make You Twirl

Are you a bit of a twirler? There’s something about a cute skirt that transforms me.  I’m not sure what it is.  Perhaps it’s the occassion of the skirt that brings out the Sound Of Music in me. I want to spin in a meadow. Perhaps warble about goat herds. I want twirl through the house, throw back curtains and plant tulips.

Perhaps that kind of behaviour is a little OTT. I’ll give you that. But after months of cosying myself up in leggings and tights and jeans and slacks, I really need to pull on a skirt, put on a record and pretend I am one of the Soul Train line dancers, albeit a funkless and clunky one.

Some skirts transport me to Nigella Lawson’s kitchen. They make me want to don an apron and cupcake the heck out of my day.  And others see me channelling a less gamine Audrey Hepburn, bringing hand to brow as I search quizically for my scooter or gondola or possibly my vintage motor car that I thought I’d left in front of the bistro.

Perhaps skirts have the power to transform you, too?  Maybe they pull you from the humdrum of your usual jeans or leggings day and plant you firmly in a more theatrical, hospitable or tulipped moment? Perhaps they add a spring in your step that might lay dormant at times?  Or perhaps I need a bit of a lie down…
