Lacy frocks. They get a bum rap. They’re either slotted alongside bridal or they’re filed in the doyley department. Sometimes they are shelved alongside Victorian Period Dramas. Or else they are dismissed as part of that Like A Virgin era which featured way too much arm candy, teased hair and crucifixes.

I’m a bit sad for lace. Lace doesn’t have to be weird. We don’t have to diss it. No. Lace can be contemporary. Lace can be on trend. Lace can be totally covetable for the modern girl. Truly. It can.

I’m hoping that lacy frocks will stage a bit of a fashion takeover this Spring/Summer. I think that after all the stark, modern, poppy lines of the colour blocking trend we’ve just seen, lace is the perfect antidote. Let me take you through a few lacy frocks. Maybe there’s something for you, your ballet flats and your top knot to go out in? I’m hoping so!
