Let’s not beat about the accessories bush here: scarves are like the wunderkind of wardrobe accessories.
Even if you don’t have the origami skills of some (and I don’t), you can just sling one around your neck and instantly the most basic of outfit – think jeans and tee – is lifted to a whole new style level.
I put together this vlog last year during winter as I was getting a lot of questions about how to wear scarves … mainly because I’d been banging on about good how scarves are for that very reason. These are the four ways I’ll typically wear my scarves.
Now, I’m firmly an all-year-round scarf wearer. I’ve got a scarf storage thingy called a Hanger Dangler on the back of my door and I swap around the scarves that live there depending on the season.
I’m getting better at trying different ways in winter but in the warmer months, it’s just a drape around the neck. Too simple.
Here’s an infographic that will get you started on six more ways:
And if that’s not enough style inspiration, here are some of my favourite styled scarf looks.
In this gallery I’ve included three from the winter 2012 collection of Melbourne-based label Nancybird. I have a major girl crush on the designer Emily Wright. I get that way when I see really talented people doing amazing things in the fashion world. Emily does that and more. Her scarves are like art pieces and her amazing bags and accessories and are collectables as well. They’ve also featured on previous series of Offspring and I’m told we’ll see more this season. I always feel a little bit spesh when I’m accessorising with Nancybird.
Enjoy.
