Be Organized

Have you been here before? Yes? No? In case you haven’t, I will tell you that I am the Armchair Neat Freak. I’m not particularly neat in my real life. I do try, but I’m a naturally relaxed person in the home. I’d rather be doing something nice than sorting my books into alphabetical order.  Maybe you think that sorting your books into alphabetical order IS nice? I am not going to hold that against you.  In fact I totally admire you and your sortedness.  I’m just NOT like that…

I do, however, love a bit of virtual neatness. For me, there is nothing quite like the calm thrill of casting my eyes over  the internet, settling on pictures of neatness and interiors beauty that will never be emulated in my own home.  Ah. So satisfying.  So organized!

Today, I’m taking you to the office. I’m going to show you some of my very fave work spaces, in the hope that they will inspire you (and me!) to cuten up your place a tad more.  I give you The Armchair Neat Freak… in the Office!

You’re ‘Armchair Neat Freak’ series is inspired, Pip, inspired. Looking at photos of beautiful (neat) rooms is probably my favourite form of escapism. Desks and working-rooms are a particular favourite; I even have a Pinterest board called ‘Deskism’. The vase of lilacs office is divine but somehow the large, turned-leg whire table room with a chair either side and the orange and fuschia curtain speaks directly to my heart. I would like to work there with my (future, still unmet) husband, doing something wonderfully collaborative like Virginia and Leonard Woolf, when they established The Hogarth Press. That’s who I want sitting with me!

Fabulous article Pip! I love looking at other peoples work spaces (neat or messy!).
Maybe it is just “creative voyeurism”, but peeking is fun! I especially love the use of green shutters around the pin board, the gorgeous use of vintage fabrics, colours, and just the wonderful organisation illustrated by these wonderful spaces! Alas, my “compulsive” need for neatness took a real beating after having my fun-craft-loving- mess making kids! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love them all, but I do have a comment about the chairs,, they must not sit in them very long!
The white wire one looks fab but what a pain in the.. well. you know … that one must be. The heavy wicker one too, but it sure looks great.
I enjoy looking, but know that in reality and real life you have to be comfortable to dream and create. The sofa day bed one is welcoming and bright. Thanks for letting us look but I still like mine best. It has my best interest at heart.

I have a table just like the in the second picture, however it doesn’t feature in such a light filled space. We only have four bedrooms and with three of the four kids at home, my office/study/studio is half of our carport. You have inspired me to tidy up the space. thanks Alannah

I love this page, however, I was surprised to see only two computers and Macs at that, although they do look so much nicer than normal pc’s… So white and clean… lovely spaces though, will clean my office space again, perhaps I can achieve something similar…
