Recharge your soul
Let me ask you a question – when was the last time you went on a road trip?
On the weekend I recharged my soul. It wasn’t hard to do, but it was definitely long overdue. My husband and I have been working way too hard and the kids have been slotting in around our franticness so we decided at the very last minute to book a couple of days aways down the coast. Family time was well overdue. Ice creams, sandcastle making, picnic dinners and long drives through farming country were required.
Have you ever felt like you needed a couple of days away from your life to get things back on track, to clean the windscreen and un-muddy the waters. Road trips help do that for you, I reckon.
Every kilometre you get away from your house, a little bit of stress or anxiety drops by the wayside. I look out of the window at the changing landscape and push the worries from my brain and breathe. Sometimes I go through weeks at a time and never stop to breathe – you know deep, body filling breathes.
I also love staying at places which aren’t mine so I am not consumed with washing clothes or fixing the broken cupboard door. Sometimes just waking up in a different bed gives you a fresh perspective – a different outlook.
Our little mini-break also provided me with some stunning sunrises. I wasn’t even fussed to see them (you know, being awake that early and all). I don’t get to sleep-in with three small children anyway so a beautiful sunrise makes it sweeter.
I also love that I get my creative juices flowing. I always take my iPhone with me and take photos. It’s a little strange seeing that my husband is an exceptionally fine photographer , but when he takes a break the last thing he wants to do is take photos. Most of our family snap shots are taken by me. I like it. I like trying different things. I am by no means a technically competent photographer. I am more of a happy snapper. And when you’ve got an office like this for the day you’re happy.
How about you, do you like taking photographs? If you do like taking photographs, you should take a peek at this. Do you know you could win $300 if your photo gets chosen to be JustB’s new Facebook Cover Photo? I’d enter, but I can’t! But you can give it a go. It’s super easy and fun! And if you know someone who takes great photos and could do with a boost, share the competition details with them. Just the simple act of being creative can help bring a smile to your face.
Do you find you are more creative when you’re on holiday? What do you – do you paint, draw, write, cook or take photographs?
Do you find road trips help clear your brain, refresh your body and recharge your soul?
Have you got a road trip planned? Where would you go if you could jump in your car right now and drive anywhere? I’d go back to the beach.
Have a fab day,
