How’s your tolerance? Are you a bit tetchy with the gluten? A growing number of Australians are being diagnosed (or indeed diagnosing themselves)  gluten intolerant.  Gluten intolerance can cause all kinds of troublesome and uncomfortable symptoms and can make menu planning a bit trickier too.  If you think YOU might be gluten intolerant, visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis, so you can get the full facts on how it might be affecting your health and what you can do to feel better.

Reflecting this anti-gluten movement, menus are changing across the nation to accommodate those who need to give it a miss.  Lots of my local cafes offer up gluten free options, and at the very best, gluten free bread (which must be SUCH a relief for the toast loving intolerant!)  For inner city dwellers like me, it’s super easy to get out and snack with the best of them. Like.

Maybe you don’t live in an area that’s caught up with these kind of dietary restrictions, like I do? Or perhaps you don’t want to head out all the time, spending up at cafes? That’s a-okay, because you can make really delicious gluten-free meals yourself. There are a ton of great recipes online which allow you to have your cake and eat it too (just sans the gluten!)

I’ve done a bit of the leg work and sourced some of the very best. Aren’t you thrilled to know that you don’t have to turn your back on your favourite treats?!

Are you avoiding gluten? Do you have some favourite gluten free treat recipes to share? Feel free to add your favourite links or recipes in the comments below.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! I think I’d better go and warm up the oven and get baking!

We’re a gf household – I’m coeliac, my daughter is coeliac and funnily enough, my husband is now gluten intolerant – a lasting side effect from chemo a couple of years back. I’ve been pretty slack about baking from scratch since being gf, I’ve been quite the packet mix-user, but I’m really ready to add some more treats to our home.

Here are a few that I’m itching to try…

Alot of us folks who can’t eat gluten have actually been diagnosed with coeliac disease which is very serious and you have avoid contamination with gluten as well.

Oh yes! Good point, Robyn. And it’s very important to get a proper diagnosis, isn’t it? Thanks for your comment. xx
