If you ask the people at my house about their very favourite fake-take-away dinner, they will tell you that Indian food is their top of the pops. We eat Indian quite often, mostly things like aloo ghobi or butter chicken or chana dahl. I really love to make a couple of dishes and fry up some paratha or other flat bread. Then we have the lot with fluffy basmati rice and some pickles and raita. YUM. Am I making you hungry?!
The good thing about making your own Indian food is that you can have generous, bountiful serves. No more arguing over the last bit of paneer or the final pakora. Nope. Make your own and you can make enough for everyone.
I really love shopping at Indian grocers to fuel our Indian food addiction. The basmati rice is MUCH nicer than the supermarket variety, and the range of frozen breads, bottled pickles and packaged spice mixes are second to none. If you’ve never stepped inside one you have not lived! Go to your nearest Indian grocer. Go soon.
Here’s a great selection of cook-at-home Indian dishes. Make a couple or just make one, but make sure you make SOMETHING. Yum!
Do you love Indian food? What’s your fave dish?
xx Pip
