We talk a lot over here about how we struggle with our own insecurities and the way the media portrays/markets to us. It’s something we feel really passionate about.  We’ve talked about body shaming.  We’ve talked about magazines. We’ve pondered advertising. We’ve celebrated Brittany. We’ve mused over ageing.  We really care about this stuff.

All this pondering and musing sometimes threatens to leave us cross and overwhelmed.  We can become victims of our own outrage, if we’re not careful, vocally stropping about in the snarky upsetting quicksand of it all, but not actually DOING anything concrete to feel better about the whole situation.  Let’s do something to feel better. Let’s not give up the fight, but let’s celebrate the good as well as condemning the ‘bad’!

I propose that this weekend we all make a concerted effort to look at the ladies among us and notice the things we love about them.  This weekend, let’s LADY FAVE! You could do this from the safety of your desk, thinking about ace chicks as you click about the internet. You could do this while you hang out with your besties, noting why they are the best.  You could do this when you are out and about, noticing stranger-ladies who seem to be confident or full of life or happy or relatable or poised in the moments that you spy them.  You could write a post on your blog or Facebook with your Lady Faves.  You could send the Lady Faves you know a text or a note.  Or you could just keep a mental tally and not share your ladies at all.  You could comment here and let us know which ladies you’re loving and what you love about them.  Even if you don’t know their names.  Let me know how YOU do the Lady Fave.

So what do you say?  This weekend, do you wanna Lady Fave?! Do you want to notice and celebrate awesome chicks?! Are you in?  Sign up below!  Lady Fave with me?!

xx Pip

Great idea!! Count me in !!!

    Ladies I fave are-
My 2 BFF’s. Both awesome but in different ways. My life would be less without them.
Blogging ladies- too many to mention but they all make my day less lonesome, more fun & inspire me with their attitudes.
Nigella Lawson- really? Do I need to explain?
Mia from Mamamia- I just like her & what she does.
Zoe Forster changed the way I look at & use make-up.
Pip Lincoln- taught me to crochet ( via YouTube ) & inspires me with craft & funny positive stuff.
Lousie L Hay- helps me see things in a new light.
    My GP- she is amazing!
This is by no means every woman but these are the ones who came to mind very quickly. These are my faves :)

This is wonderful! I love it!
I am a true believer that if you are thinking something nice about someone then you should vocalise it to them, chances are they could do with a pick-me-up and your compliment could be just the thing they need. I regularly tell me friends/coworkers/strangers the nice things that I think about them and it makes me feel better about myself when I make another lady smile and feel special.
Go ahead ladies – VOICE YOUR LOVELY THOUGHTS!

Aw. Thank you. That means a LOT to me. xxx

  • Lauren

I lady fave my 6 closest girlfriends – we’ve been there for each other, supporting each other through highs and lows, weddings, a kid out of wedlock, loneliness, everything! We’re all different, have different bodies and different beliefs but we love each other like sisters and I think that kind of friendship is special and beautiful!
I also lady fave my mum, who is awesome and is a rock to me, and constantly teaches me how to be strong, my mother-in-law who shows her joy everyday with her family, and my nana who while has had a tough life, has had a full and happy one because she chooses to smile each day and take joy in the little things rather than focus on the negatives. My nana is my biggest inspiration of all.

Oh wow. That actually made me sob a bit. I love your Lady Faves, Lauren. They are heartfelt and obviously super special to you. Thank you so much for taking the time to share ‘em with us. You are a Lady Fave too. xx

Oh Pip, another great post, an even greater idea. I have some Lady Faves that I treasure so much. It can be hard when they move interstate or overseas, but they are still women that have been a significant part of my life’s journey.

Carrie Bradshaw summed up the Lady Faves spirit well when the girls of SATC hit Atlantic City and are all pulling in different directions,so she gathers them up, and announces with glee ‘Right now I’m taking my ladies to dinner’. Love that!!

You’re doing such a good job here on JustB, I reckon you deserve a bunch of flowers from the head honchos! : )

Annette H! You are a Lady Fave, fo schizz! And it’s not just because you said the thing about the flowers! My SISTER is my best Lady Fave! And we are states away, but I lub her the best! Thank you SO much for your comment! xx

I have been Lady Faveing like crazy this past week and I like to do it even more now because this action of kindness now has a name and I can preach the meaning of Lady Faves! I actually made a new friend on Friday night because I told her that he dress is amazing and then we got chatting and I told her about the Lady Faves and now she is a Lady Faver as well. Now I am preaching to dudes that they need to Dude Fave sometimes and maybe even hug each other occassionally.
Thank you Pip for putting the Lady Fave into Lady Faves!
