Our Golden Globe Winner Faves
I’ve been hanging with the Golden Globes on Twitter and Facebook, watching the winners roll by, and noticing the winners are really super well deserving (and some of our very faves!) Here’s the JustB lowdown on the most deserving winners! You can visit the Golden Globe site to see all the results!
Best Performance by an Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Lovely Kate Winslet won for Mildred Pierce. I haven’t seen this, but I love the realness that is Kate and I can’t wait to eyeball the fashion, either. Have you seen this? On the internet, or somewhere like that?
Best Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made for Television
Skirmishes in the scullery! Crochet! Croquet! It’s Downton Abbey and they are a WINNER! Hurrah! Deservedly so, for reigniting Australia’s (the World’s!) passion for the period drama!
Best Original Song – Motion Picture – “Masterpiece” – Madonna, Julie Frost, Jimmy Harry – W.E.
The ever evolving, full of cheek Madge won for a song she did for Masterpiece! Go Madge! I have not heard this track, but I’ve heard some of Madge’s other stuff and it’s quite good…
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical – Michelle Williams – My Week With Marilyn
We were just talking about Michelle yesterday on Facebook and here she is today winning BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE. Omg. Her mum must be stoked. I love her because she’s managed to push her way toward the things that are important to her, despite some horrible knocks.
Best Screenplay AND Best Director
Woody Allen for Midnight in Paris! I loved this film SO MUCH. It’s a triptastic, nostalgic bumble into Paris’s artsy heyday! Ari (almost 12) and I watched it together and he was VERY impressed that Picasso made an appearance! And Hemingway! He watched The Old Man and The Sea to make sense of it all and said ‘Best Film Ever!’ Shame it didn’t win a Golden Globe. Hemingway would have been chuffed to get a globe.
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Drama – Claire Danes – Homeland
I’ve loved Claire since she played Angela in My So Called Life. I loved her as Juliet, too. And now I am super busting to see her as Carrie Mathison in Homeland. Go Claire! Have you watched Homeland?
Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture – Octavia Spencer – The Help
This was one of our fave films of last year, and Octavia Spencer WINS for her role as Minny Jackson! ’Minny don’t burn chicken!’ Do not mention the bit about the poo.
Best Director – Motion Picture - Martin Scorsese – Hugo
Argh! Martin Scorsese’s super fantastical fairy tale, Hugo wins! And so it should. It is amazing. I can not begin to sum it up! LOOK! Watch!
Best Television Series – Comedy Or Musical - Modern Family
Modern Family! Ye gads! I love Cam. I love him a lot. I love Manny. I SUPER LOVE Gloria. I love them all. Except Phil. But I think I’m in the minority there. JustB’s Nikki LOVES Phil. She can have him. I’ll be over here playing Gin Rummy with Cam. I want Cam to live next door to me. Do you love Cam? (Nikki’s note: I love Phil, very much like my husband … but I’d love Cam next door, definitely!)
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama - Meryl Streep – Iron Lady
I haven’t seen this, but it’s on my list. Have you seen it? I loved Meryl huge amounts in The Devil Wears Prada. I loved her Lindy ways in Evil Angels. I am sure I will love her Maggie, too! Have you seen Iron Lady?
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama – George Clooney – The Descendants
George Clooney. Oh my. I have a huge crush on George Clooney. Is that weird? I mean, he’s kinda like everone’s favourite uncle. It seems a little odd that I want to smooch him. Come to think of it, I did have a childhood crush on my fave uncle. Hm. Thanks for working through this with me, I feel SO much better!
