Life: Eleven Favourite Road Trip Movies
There’s nothing like a road trip movie to give you itchy feet and wistful wonderings about wandering futher afield. Road trips always tell a story. Maybe the story is ‘Are we there yet?’ Maybe it’s ‘The time we forgot to update our roadside assistance.’ It might even be ‘How a chenille bedspread inspired me to quit my job.’ I don’t know. The options are endless and the experiences are rich and varied. And funny. They are often funny. Sometimes they can be itchy, even. Or smelly. But let’s not go there.
Today I thought we’d talk about ‘the journey’ and how some great movies have tracked these kinds of trippy adventures in super watchable ways. I must say that ‘Paper Moon’ is one of my very favourite road trip flicks, but there are a ton of others which have deservedly wriggled their way into our culture, and when we think of them we feel like making tracks.
Here are some of my favourite road trip movies. Keep in mind that I don’t usually watch movies with lots of guns, robots or zombies, so I have probably missed a whole lot of equally relevant cinema classics. Luckily you are here. You can fill me in. You can add to this lists. You can help me make the very best list of road trip movies EVER made. My suggestions are your opener. DO tell me which other films belong on this list!
Which flicks will you add?! Name your favourite road trip movies… vintage, zombified, family friendly or otherwise! Do you love any of the ones I’ve posted here today?
