Oh doughnuts. Sigh. Don’t you think you could track your life with doughnuts?!  Mine would go something like this…

Age 4 to 18 : Cinnamon Doughnuts
Age 19 to 25 :  Awesome Chocolate Doughnuts
Age 25 to 35: Fancy Custard Doughnuts
Age 35 plus : Hot Jam Doughnuts

Note that I started and ended with the classics and in the middle I got a bit experimental and possibly pretentious? I think that’s probably indicative of the path my growing up has taken. I think in the middle I tried to get a bit edgy and noticeable, but I got back to basics eventually with the humble jam.

How about you? Are you a doughnut fan? Do different doughnuts mark different ages or stages in your life? Or do you dough-NOT?  Take a peek at these delicious homemade doughnut recipes. There are ten glazed, sprinkled or jam-packed delights for you to have a go at. Which is your favourite? (

I am secretly a donut lover, shop bought pineapple glazed and Vic Market hot jammie ones are faves but I have all given up the habit for 15+ years… until those delectable baked pumpkin spice donuts, even going to by a special pan to make them as a total gift to myself, today, now, off to shops…

Ahhh, Hot dark chocolate filled donuts from the Fremantle markets…Strangely enough, I only really develop a taste for donuts while I’m pregnant, which I’m hoping is right now ;) I agree, may have to go get a donut pan very soon..

Jam donuts all the way. They have been my obsession since my early 20′s. But I eat them so fast coz they are so yummy!

How GOOD is that jam they use, Shelleymummy? I don’t know where they get that jam, but it might be Jam Nirvana, methinks!
