Ah Spring! It puts a skip in your step and a boing in your heart. There’s something super nice about these longer days and the slowly warming mornings. There’s an optimism about this change in the seasons which make me want to get busy doing nice stuff. It makes me want to sit on the back step in my slippers and sip coffee with the morning birds. It makes me want to fill vases with fresh flowers and throw open curtains and bake cakes. Do you feel like that too?!
Spring is the perfect time to start some fresh picnic cake habits. I think that sometimes it’s totally great to just hit the bakery and run. But other days you want to go a bit further and build a sense of occasion into your picnic. Baking a picnic cake is a really good way to do that! There’s something very Enid Blyton about busting out the cake slicer and carving big wedges of deliciousness for your picnic buddies.
