Food: Eleven Delicious Fries To Make

It’s such a shame that fries have become the domain of fast food giants, really. It’s not that I think those kinds of fries are not nice…. Nope. I will snack on fries with the best of them (occasionally!)  The problem with easily available fries is that their convenience short circuits any fried adventures we might have in our own kitchen. It seems so easy to BUY a bag or a bucket of salty goodness, why on earth would we make them?!

Well. I’m here to tell you that sometimes you SHOULD make them.  Ignore the drive-thru and head to the market.  Gather up a few bits and pieces like veggies, oil, sea salt and kitchen towel and you are away, my dear.  Home-style fries are hotter, crispier, more golden and generally more delicious than their cardboard housed counterparts.  And they can feed a crowd of hungry types in a trice.   I think that’s rad.

I’ve scouted eleven amazing-great recipes for fries. Some are more traditional, while others are fancier. Fancy fries.  What could be better than that?!

Are you into fries? Do you ever make your own?  Do you like the fancy fry idea?

xx Pip

We are pretty big on kale, black cabbage, Tuscan kale, chips over here.
SO easy! Tear the leaves from the stalks in rough chip sizes.
Drizzle over olive oil and sprinkle over salt flakes and black pepper. (you can add some freshly grated Parmesan here or some nutritional yeast) Toss thoroughly with your hands.
Spread out evenly on a large baking tray and then bake in a moderate oven for about 5-10 minutes until they are crunchy. Check them so they don’t get TOO crunchy aka burnt!
Nutritional yeast is sometimes sold as yeast flakes but has nothing to do with baking yeast..

Are they greasy at all, I have a problem digesting certain fats, but these look so wonderful?

I think you just need to be sure to drain/pat them dry with kitchen towel after you have fried them. xx
