I’m a heart person. I collect hearts. In jewellery pieces. In stuff for around the home.

Apparently it means I’m compassionate. I’ll take that.

So with Valentine’s Day around the corner (Tuesday night, Justb-ers), I’m pretty much up for an attack of the hearts.

Give me schmoochy schmoochy any day but on February 14, I’m a complete goner.

Even in my single days I was never one to poo poo this Festival of Schmaltz.

So if you’re ok with this love in too (and it’s very OK if you’re not) read on. I’ve got 10 super and ideas you can create, buy or just oogle over this weekend.

What’s your take? Too commercial or great fun to embrace some romance?

PS. Looking for some gifts to buy at the shops? I put together my favourite five here.

You know what? I am (unfortunately) instinctively cynical…… but as a long term singleton, I decided this year that ANY excuse to celebrate love is a good thing. There SHOULD be a day to celebrate love, in all it’s forms. There is too much negativity and hatred in the world already. Valentines Day might have become over-commercialised… but it doesn’t have to be. And it doesn’t have to be about romantic love, secret admirers and roses. Go on an “anti-date” with a friend. Give your Mum an extra big hug. Cut out paper hearts with your kids & decorate them together. Let’s face it, the modern Valentines Day has no relevance to it’s history. So….. make it what you want it to be, I say.
