I’m a bit of a vintage kinda gal. I spent Saturday trawling vintage shops with my kidlet and boyfriend (luckily they are the vintage kind too!) and I most certainly can not walk past an op shop or garage sale without having a bit of hunt about.

I really love buying second-hand things, because I think it’s another great way to recycle and live sustainably. I also love the quality of older things, because they are often made in smaller numbers with greater care (pre-mass production!)  I think it’s really easy to pluck on-trend pieces amidst vintage finds. Fashion and design really are cyclical, and if you wait long enough, old faves will come around again, looking as fresh as ever!

Mid century design is particularly popular at the moment, popping up on The Block most nights of the week (especially in Sophie and Dale’s rooms!) As a child of the seventies, I’m pretty partial to anything late 60s or early 70s. I love the links pieces from this era provide back to my childhood, and I really love the simplicity of this period too.

Perhaps you already shop for vintage on eBay or at second-hand markets, but did you know that online marketplace Etsy is a good source of inspiration/accumulation too?!  Not all pieces ship to Australia, but often the sellers will negotiate with you and make exceptions.  It’s a good starting point for working out what you might want in your own home, too, because there are so many GREAT items listed!

Here are my favourite vintage kitchen pieces on Etsy today.  If you’re in the market for a cuter more colourful kitchen, maybe some of these will be YOUR cup of tea too?!

Do you ever buy vintage on Etsy? Are you into the 60s and 70s? Do you collect things like this?

Love them so much. Wish I could go back in time and grab the old enamel ware out of Mum’s cupboards. I did buy a cute yellow anodised ring tin from an Etsy seller. It was in great condition, and works beautifully. It was quite small though, very modest sizes.

The quality can’t be beaten, I reckon, with this vintage stuff! If you compare eBay and Etsy, I think Etsy wins every time! Better things, better prices and easier to navigate, too!!! I am obsessed with enamelware, MelB! I love the colours and patterns SO MUCH! xx
