I’m quite into the whole sunburst idea. Growing up, we had a crazy mid-century lounge room with a sunburst clock hung on an otherwise sparse wall. Somehow that clock appears in just about every photo ever taken of that era. I think its imposing presence made it the favourite focal point for every daggy family portrait from 1969 to 1999.

Of course, now those clocks are quite coveted and all the cool kids want them. It’s pretty funny, because we were definitely not cool kids back then.  I think I yearned for some kind of florally no-nonsense clock, back in the day.

The sunburst does not limit itself to time pieces, however. It’s also jumped the shark and reinvented its spikiness into mirrors, too.  And some clever people have worked out all kinds of ways to MAKE your own sunburst by customising a regular round mirror with all kinds of ray-representing embellishments. Fancy, no?

How is this sounding to you?Would you like your face to be surrounded by a sunny, spiky frame? You would?! Phew. Here’s eleven ways to get a sunny mug!

Did you have a sunburst at your place? Or do you want one now?
