Are you a bit woody? I totally am. I really like the warm, earthy, familiar tones of wooden things. Wood works well and wears well, and it looks good too.
I start with my feet, wearing wooden clogs most days. But maybe that’s not for you. That’s okay. There are other ways. You can bust wood out for the usual suspects like chopping boards and wooden spoons. Or maybe you’d like to go a bit more left of centre and opt for wooden cups and saucers or wooden keep-safe boxes. Nice. Go you.
Wooden things in the kitchen are my very favourite. I think it harks back to the 70s when every salad was served in a clunky, heavy bowl, garnished with orange slices and equally heavy salad servers.
If your budget doesn’t stretch to buying the pieces that I’ve chosen, never fear. You can head straight to your local op shop. Some crazy people are still throwing out really gorgeous 70s relics and they are always reasonably priced and loaded with years of salad or serving history. If a little bit of teak, pine or maple are on your wish list, try your local oppy!

Are you into the simplicity of wooden things? Have you ever had a slice of orange in your salad?!
