Washi tape. Do you know what it is? It’s that cute, patterned or coloured paper masking-like tape that originates from Japan. You can buy it in your local independent gift store, on Etsy or get something similar at Typo. Notemaker also sells the original MT Washi Tape, if you are looking for that.
You can use washi tape in all kinds of ways, and it’s far superior to regular old scotch tape or hastily applied sticky tape. It’s easy to work with, because it’s not SUPER sticky and it lifts simple, neutral wrapping into something much more special.
(Look here for lots of clever washi tape and Japanese crafting inspiration.)
It’s pretty cool that people are thinking beyond the wrap, and using washi tape as a home-y accent. It’s popping up in interiors and entertaining shoots across the globe, lifting white, bright, clean spaces and neutral items with little pops of colour. Tweaking parties with a bit of extra awesome. Have a click through today’s gallery for a few clever ideas for our fave tape.
Do you have washi tape in your stationery arsenal?
