Etsy is a goldmine for all kinds of things, isn’t it? Whether you are looking for a gift or something for yourself, crafty market-place Etsy is guaranteed to have a handmade, cute or quirky spin on the thing you want (sometimes all three!) The good thing about Etsy is that even though it’s backed by a big company, nearly the whole purchase price you pay for an item goes direct to the maker. That means that you are supporting someone’s micro-business when you choose to buy from Etsy. I think that’s a great thing, especially when there are a ton of people running their own cottage industry from an Etsy storefront. We like cottages, right? And we want to support those who are industrious in them! Yes!
Seriously though, you can find all kinds of on-trend stuff over there, because that’s actually where most of the trends start, with imaginative, creative people who are able to take a punt on cute cleverness. Etsy makers answer to themselves, so they don’t always make the kinds of commercial compromises you might see in big labels. (Heck, you’ll probably see the big labels replicate the stuff they see on Etsy, once they’ve seen the market tested. Big labels can be like that.) Etsy is the home of imagination and innovation.
