On Saturday my daughter got married! Yowzers!  It was the loveliest day EVER!  All the guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Most relaxed. Most heart-felt. Prettiest. Most personal. Cutest. Funnest. Phew!

The wedding cost less than $6000. That includes the rings, celebrant, booze, food, catering equipment, marquees, furniture, printing, wedding favours, snow cone machine, invitations, guest book, lighting, flowers, decorating, everything for 100 guests!  How amazing great is that?! Granted it’s still a lot of money, but it’s pretty great to know that if everyone tucks a bit aside the cost can be shared across the family without going into debt or breaking the bank.

I did the catering myself. We bought a pizza oven (which we had wanted for our courtyard garden at home!) and took it to Rin’s house.  Then I made lovely pizzas with the help of my boyfriend and my friends Cass and Ben.  The pizzas were : pumpkin and smashed pea pizza, potato, fetta and fresh herb pizza, salami and vegie-garden fresh tomato pizza, crispy zucchini and bocconcini pizza and fig, maple syrup and fetta pizza! I made some HUGE salads too : roasted baby potatoes tossed in brown sugar, garlic and sea salt, a huge spinach and pesto salad, a rocket salad and a cucumber and red onion salad with lots of fresh herbs.  On arrival everyone had ciabatta slices with smashed peas, mint, Meredith goats cheese and chili. YUM!

We made big tubs of red and white sangria too.  And there was champagne, wine, beer, cider and soft  drink.  We had snow cones and lolly bags and tic-toc biscuits too! My friend bought the flowers and the bride’s friend did all the arrangements.  The bride made her own bouquet and she also made cute herb corsages for the boys!  We had badminton in the front yard and long tables and bench seats in the back!  We asked readers of my blog to make pompoms for Rin and Joe, too! We got LOTS and LOTS of pompoms and hung them all over the back yard. Look how cute it looks!  AND friends and family formed a band and played music on the day, too!

Here’s a bit more of a peek into Rin’s crafty-DIY-backyard wedding! (Look at the Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake buffet! Made by a whole group of my lovely friends! Aw! Most delicious made-with-love wedding cakes ever!)

I’ll be posting lots more snaps on my own blog in the coming weeks, or you can look here right now to see some of the official wedding snaps by Eric Ronald.  He’s the best guy and an amazing photographer. Hire him today!

I had a back yard wedding, it was the best.  Everyone is relaxed and a lot of heart and love goes into every little thing.  It bought our family even closer as we all pitched in, and we do laugh at the arguments too.  Much love to your gorgeous daughter and son in law for a lifetime of happiness.

We had a small wedding at the courthouse with just our parents. A lovely dinner at a nice restaurant and then a stay overnight in the guest suite. I was 7 mths pregnant so not much partying happening, we saved that for later after baby was born :-)

What a gorgeous wedding.  Everyone looks so relaxed and happy and I just love all the attention to detail and how all your friends and family offered to help where they could.  And the toppings on those pizzas sound so delicious.  Great job but I bet you’re a little exhausted by now!

My god!!! Joes lemonade bottles.  Haven’t seen them for years.  Loved the Joes Cola.  Are you from around South Gippsland?   Beautiful photos.  Looks like a wonderful day had by all.
