Neon. Are you into it? I really am.
I see pops of neon wherever I go. Neon runners. Neon frocks. Neon scrunchies (<< may be a fib!) Neon bags. There are neon signs up and down my street, in a fashiony way. People are tripping the light fantastic in a super bright, pops-of-colour kind of way, blinding all they pass with shots of yellow and pangs of pink. Ka-pow!
When I was a kid, I had a really cool white and pink neon CHOOSE LIFE t-shirt. I don’t think it was one of the ‘official’ ones, because they all seemed to be black and white. I don’t think I really cared, because I was too busy ‘hanging on like a yo-yo‘. A year or two later, I ditched the Wham shirt for a neon pink mesh vest. A kind of neon coming of age, if you will. I wore the vest over a lacy black bra with bangles up my arm and a ra-ra skirt, in honour of my idol, Lady Madge. I had forgotten about hanging on like a yo-you and was much happier pushing my love over the borderline, complete with a stupidly large bow in my hair.
Ah. Those were the days, right? When Sportsgirl was laden with fluro (for the very first time…!)
Today, you don’t even NEED to trip to the shops to get your neon fix. You can bring neon into your life in a handmade way. You can DIY neon. You can.
