Simple gifts don’t have to mean nipping into the 7-11 on the way to someone’s party, forlornly offering up a bunch of rustle-y flowers on your arrival. Nope. You can MAKE something cute with a little bit of forward planning, receiving a much nicer reception when you hand said booty over.
Granted it’s not as easy as whipping out your wallet and saying ‘could you gift wrap that please?’ But making something has the added bonus of earning you the ‘crafty’ badge in your circle of friends (or family!)
It’s quite good wearing the ‘crafty’ badge. It’s served me very well, because I have been lucky enough to write some books about making things, thanks to my ‘crafty’ reputation.
I’m not promising that a publishing deal will be forthcoming if you make one of these lovely items, but perhaps it might awaken a crafty spirit in you (or re-awaken!) and that can only lead to good things.
